Just try this ---

Tell the telemarketer that - you are busy and if they will give you their phone number you will call them back. If they say they are not allowed to give out their number, then ask them for their home number and tell them you will call them at home (this is usually the most effective method of getting rid of telemarketers). If the sales person says, “Well, I don’t really want to get a call at home,” say, “Ya! Now you know how I feel.” (smiling, of course…)

Don't be a meany

These jobs are horrible, I have had plently. . Everyone has to make a living - I agree, they arnt nice phone calls, but usually the best way to get rid of us is to politly say "I don't need what you are selling, promoting whatever, thankyou for your call, please don't call again".

Either that, or say thankyou and hang up

Unfortunatly, we have a manager breathing down our neck - we have to stay on the line until you hang up or say yes, so its not our fault.

I had a friend's grandpa who would tell the telemarketers he had died. He would also send junk mail back with "Deceased" written on it.

I was a market researcher when I was in NM and going to collage.. that job sucked! but.. if you tell them to take you off their list, they can't bug you anymore.. at least, it worked for us.. we didn't sell anything, just asked alot of piontless questions
