Raven is my spirit guide/totem - The raven part was I thought going to be my second part of name
but I was listening the Xandria's 'Raven Heart' song which jammed on my MP3 player - It played like 4/5
times so I believe it was telling me that the raven part was in wrong place - So Raven Heart was born.

Dragons are watching and guiding from near and far.

My board name, Duncan Runebrand, is a character of my own creation. One who believes that life is worth living and sharing. He invisions a world in which chivilry is not dead, a place where Love and Honor rule, always striving to make the world a magical place. For in his eyes, magic lives and can be seen in the smile of every child, the shared glance of lovers, or the beauty of a sunrise over the water. Duncan Runebrand is all that, and something more, he is me.

Here is a history of the Red Dragon and because i am proud to be welsh. I use it.

An official emblem

Although the dragon has been used in Wales for many years, it wasn't until the 20th century that it became an official symbol.

In 1284 Edward I incorporated Wales into England under the Statute of Rhuddlan. In 1301, Edward made his eldest son - also called Edward - Prince of Wales. Since then the eldest son of each English monarch has been given the title.

The Laws in Wales Acts, passed in 1536 and 1543 during the reign of Henry VIII from the Welsh Tudor dynasty, created a single state and legal jurisdiction, effectively annexing Wales to England.

Henry did, however, use the red dragon on green and white as an emblem on many Royal Navy vessels. It was also used by Queen Elizabeth I. Yet the Welsh influence waned when the Scottish James VI became James I (England) in 1605, and the dragon was replaced by a unicorn in the royal arms. It didn't return to the Royal Badge of Wales until 1807.

Largely because of the Laws in Wales Acts and the Statute of Rhuddlan, Wales is not represented on the Union Jack, other than through the cross of St George (Wales and England being, according to the acts, one country). Although proposals to incorporate it have been made, they have been met with muted enthusiasm.

In 1901 the dragon became the official symbol of Wales, and in Caernarfon in 1911, at the investiture of Edward, Prince of Wales, the flag appeared in its current form, helping its rise to prominence.

In 1953 it was announced that there would be a new royal badge containing the motto "Y Ddraig Goch Ddyry Cychwyn" (an approximate translation is "the red dragon inspires action").

In 1959, after successful lobbying by the Gorsedd of Bards and others, Queen Elizabeth II made the red dragon on a green and white background the official flag for Wales.

It was announced that the flag to be flown on government buildings would consist only of the red dragon on a green and white flag, rather than the 1953 badge, which was still in occasional use.

The 1959 design can today be seen right across Wales, and is a symbol of pride in history and heritage for Welsh people across the world.

Postby Breaca on Fri Jan 04, 2008 2:38 pm

Breaca is a character from Manda Scott's Boudica series.

Breaca is the name of the Boudica in the books with Boudica been a title given to her by her people.)

I chose it, not because she's Boudica in the books but just because I love the name, it sounds really pretty.

Here's what Manda has to say in her character and name glossary:
Breaca: Bray-ah-ca. Breaca is a derivative of the goddess Briga.

On other forums I used to use Serenstar - Seren is Welsh for star.

I use both Breaca and Serenstar because I like them. They're not magickal names, craft names etc. I don't have one.

I did some research on the origon of my birth name, and in it's greek form it is Theophano, which means Manfestation of god. I like the origninal form better and I feel a deep connection with it. Thefore, I use it as my screen name.

Namarie and Blessed Be,

I chose Starfire as my board name because it is my Magick name too. For those who don't know, a magick name is a name given to a person studying the Craft. It is usually given at their initiation, but I self initiated because I am a solitary. so Star - I always loved stars, up in the sky and the shape is my favorite and Fire - I am a bit of a pyro...
